Stonehenge series 1983 acrylic on canvas, each 36 in. x 48 in. Viewing the ominous monoliths of Stonehenge inspired Ginny Tompkins to paint this series of isolated views of the great towering stones, conveying a sense of timeless and sacred presence on our earth. "When I saw the 1983 Stonehenge series in Ginny's home it was like walking among and under the great stones. She had placed the large paintings very high on a wall, five of them grouped together. The stones towered over me with their strong presence as in the old sacred ground. The isolated views of Stonehenge, strong in their sense of composition, rendered the weight and ominous presence of the stones even more than a complete picture of the site would so." ¯France-Marie Haeger Stonehenge #1 Stonehenge #2 Stonehenge #3 Stonehenge #4 Stonehenge #5 Stonehenge #6
